Follow-Up On Catholicism’s Future

Well, that was not one of our most informative meetings.  It’s always a little hard for a bunch of mainly agnostic types to speak informatively on a particular religious tradition.  Still, I thought we explored some interesting notions about what appeals to people about religion in general and the direction many crowded, poor countries might take in terms of Christianity.  Here are some follow-up links.

But atheists don’t believe in Heaven, of course.
However, I suppose it was nice of him to include us anyway LOL.

The Pope is now talking about a “gay lobby” at the Vatican, according to NYT

    1. Details here:

The latest, per the AP, is that a report was prepared for Benedict by a trusted group of 3 cardinals. They alleged that high-ranking prelates at the Vatican were being blackmailed because they were gay; i.e., threatened with being outed.

This is not surprising, because approximately 50% of the Catholic clergy has been considered gay-oriented, compared to about 10% or less of the general population.

Since they have a great problem recruiting clergy to begin with, they will have even more problems if they attempt to purge that 50%.
