I thought that was a really, really good meeting last night. I’m always amazed at how much we can learn from each other. Among the 13 people who participated, I especially want to thank Pete, Dean, and Linda, for bringing some research and experience with criminal justice matters to the issue. Thanks also to one of our new members, also named Linda, for her well-informed advocacy of legalization. As promised, here are a few things:
- The organization that Newbie Linda belongs to, Americans for Safe Access.
- Something I saw just today. Some more information on the current state of marijuana addiction in the United States and a summary of the main issues concerning legalization. This once again is from samefacts.com, a site run by a stable of criminal justice (and other, especially health care policy) academics.
If you really care about this issue, I would recommend their balanced, science-based book on the subject and its companion website, marijuanalegalization.info.
- The book that Sue, another of our new members, mentioned: El Narco: Inside Mexico’s Criminal Insurgency. Also, here’s an NPR interview with the author.
I hope to see all of our new members back again soon!
Check back in a day or less for my first This Week’s Mtg post related to conservative and liberal principles.
