Friday Follow-Up: Science And Politics

I’ll do a follow-up post later this weekend.  But, does anybody have anything to add they didn’t think of last night?

The only thing I can think of is to recommend highly a best-selling book by Michael Pollan, The Omnivore’s Dilemma.  He talks a lot about how hard it is to know what to eat these days and the role that “the nutrition-industrial complex” plays in this.  He means the big corporations, but only in part.  He really hammers on the nutrition advice-giving industry of journalists, publicity-happy food scientists, and other “experts.”  This is what Jess and others were talking about.
