It’s a big weekend for breaking events, obviously. I think recent developments suggest we should put the following topics on the next schedule:
- Our energy future, off-shore drilling, more on climate change, something like that. By the end of the week, the gulf oil spill will exceed the scale of the Exxon-Valdez disaster, with no end in sight.
- mmigration reform. I already suggested “can we find a solution that satisfies everyone?”
- Maybe terrorism, although at this point it’s unclear who set the amateurish NYC car bomb and why.
Relatedly, one of the loopier things I’ve seen in a while is the media’s wanting so bad to blame the Obama administration for the Gulf oil spill. They seem to want to compare its response to the Katrina fiasco. I have no earthly idea how anyone could blame them for this. The government’s response has been fine. This guy summarizes the response and wonders if the public is supposed to think the Obama administration is staffed by superheroes.
Also, not to take advantage of my position as website manager or anything, but read this before your next Libertarian Party meeting.
