Jefferson–Some good books

I know very little about this period in American history. But, FYI, here are a few books on Jefferson and the Opening of the West. The first is very long, but I found one in an abridged version for use in college classes. I’m plowing through the 1,000-page version and have been stuck in the 1820s chapters for months.

1. What Hath God Wrought? about the largely forgotten 1st half of the 19th century.

2. The Rise of American Democracy, Jefferson to Lincoln; Very dense, but the link is to a 250pp version.

3. American Sphinx, the recent bestselling bio of Jefferson by Joseph Ellis.

4.  Update:  Undaunted Courage, about Lewis/Clark, by Ambrose
